Rose Garden inspired from the gardens at Trentham. The painting depicts a collection of classical roses displayed at Trentham Gardens https://trentham.co.uk/estate-gardens/about-trenth... against a backdrop of an archway that covers the statue of The lady with the snake. Steven set out to paint in the gardens on the hottest day of the year, but quickly returned to the gallery and his studio to finish off the original.
